This week we’re joined by Chicago musician, filmmaker, & photographer, Evelyn Landow!

(This interview was edited and condensed for clarity)

CA: Hey Evelyn! Hit us with your bio.

EL: My name is Evelyn, and I am a cinematographer, editor, musician, BTS photographer, and writer working in Chicago.

CA: Tell us about the kind of work you make!

EL: I make comedy web series, artsy music videos, short films, and I dabble in live performance. My style and focus change a lot, and I am always looking for new ways to create.

CA: What specific pieces of art (not necessarily film) have been inspiring you?

EL: I’ve heard about one song from the new Perfume Genius album and that’s about all I can take, it’s so good and empowering. Chris Nolan inspires me, even though I refuse to risk my life to see 'Tenet.'

CA: How are you staying motivated?

EL: I’m still working in the ways that I can. As a Capricorn, a lot of my identity is wrapped up in what I make, so I’m working on music and video projects that can happen while social distancing.

CA: Who are some of your favorite collaborators?

EL: Minnie Productions are my favorite, I was able to work with Sarah Chandler and Sarah Conley for The Right Swipe. They set the bar so high in terms of important, supportive productions.

My friend and collaborator Laura Nelson and I made a comedy web series “Garden Doc” by ourselves, which was a thrill. We’re working on music and more video work now but we’ll really be able to complete projects once the pandemic is over I also love working as a behind the scenes photographer with Sarah Clark, her shorts are always beautiful and exciting

Finally, I’m loving the team at How to L0ve, Robert, Jody, Devyn, and Saro are a dream to work with and I’m looking forward to our shoot.

CA: Wild card– What's your favorite ice cream?

EL: Pistachio!

CA: Thank you, Evelyn!

EL: Thanks! You can find me as Evelyn Landow on Spotify and other places, and please check out the fundraiser for the comedy web series How to L0ve - I am the cinematographer and we are going into production in about a month!
