16mm turns 100 years old! When the Eastman Kodak Company introduced 16mm and the Ciné-Kodak camera in 1923, the company never could have imagined the profusion of creativity that 16mm would unleash: home movies, classroom films, avant-garde cinema, documentaries, jukebox soundies, clandestine erotica, amateur animation, student films, and more!

Join the Chicago Film Society at The Music Box Theatre on December 11 for a big celebration of their favorite little film gauge, with emblematic examples of 16mm wonder plucked from the CFCs own collection and archives across the country, including films from each decade of its first century.

Relive John Hughes' hilarious and heartwarming tale about 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), who is left to defend his home against a pair of dimwitted burglars when his family departs for Christmas vacation without him. The 1990 comedy yielded one of John Williams' most delightful scores–now hear it performed live by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra!

The iconic Christmas movie will be playing at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra December 8-10!

Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show) have over 11,000 VHS tapes in their collection and will take viewers on a guided tour through their latest and greatest finds, including rare footage from a short-lived video dating service featuring 1987's most eligible bachelorettes, a questionably sexy striptease video called "Males In Motion," and a mysterious New Age seminar called "Elimination: The First Step."

Catch the event at The Music Box Theatre on Wednesday, December 13, at 7:15 pm.
